During the second half of their set on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Gerard Way addressed the audience before closing out the show with “The Foundations of Decay,” as reported by MySA. Way reflected on the band’s journey over the previous two years on the road and dedicated the final song to their former producer and close friend Doug McKean, who died in 2022.

Way told the crowd that the band loved working on the full Foundations of Decay album with McKean and wanted to make more music, but explained that “stuff happens, life happens” following McKean’s death. However, the frontman confirmed that the band hopes to return to the studio. According to NME, Way told the audience, “Just know that, like, we’ve kind of really always wanted to make another record, so we hope that life allows us to do that. Cause you guys, honestly, you guys kept us alive so long. You guys deserve another record. I don’t know when it’ll be. But it’ll be awesome.”

Tour Wrap-Up and The Black Parade Anniversary Run

The concert marked the conclusion of the “Long Live The Black Parade” tour, an extensive anniversary trek celebrating the band’s 2006 album. The tour featured full performances of the classic emo record, followed by a second set on a B-stage in the middle of the venue. The trek included dates across North America, the UK, and Europe.

The potential fifth album would be My Chemical Romance’s first full-length release since 2010’s “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” and their first since 2022. While Way noted there is no official release date or timeline yet, the announcement marks the band’s first public overture about a fifth record since their 2019 reunion.
