Serie A Comes to Lugano Casino: An Interview with CEO Paolo Sanvido

Casinò di Lugano has integrated DAZN for Business into its gaming halls, bringing live Serie A football and other sports leagues directly to the venue. According to Chief Executive Officer Paolo Sanvido, the move addresses an ongoing shift toward experiential entertainment rather than a single customer request.

Bringing Live Serie A to the Lugano Gaming Floor

The Casinò di Lugano stands among the first Swiss clients to adopt DAZN for Business, blending traditional gaming tables with live broadcasts of the Italian football championship. Paolo Sanvido, the casino’s chief executive officer, stated in an interview with Corriere del Ticino that the initiative aligns with a multi-year strategy to position the property as an all-around entertainment destination.

Rather than relying solely on gaming, the venue has cultivated dining, events, and social spaces. Sanvido noted that introducing live sport complements this ecosystem by giving patrons reasons to gather, dine at the casino’s Elementi restaurant, and stay longer.

Infrastructure and Responsible Gaming Measures

Broadcasts will run on existing audiovisual systems across selected areas of the gaming halls best suited for viewing. Sanvido emphasized that the introduction of live sports entertainment does not alter regulatory requirements, access controls, or player protection protocols at the Swiss gaming house.

“For us this is an essential point,” Sanvido told Corriere del Ticino regarding the balance between sports broadcasting and responsible gaming. “The expansion of the entertainment offering does not modify in any way the access rules, controls, and prevention measures for excessive gaming.”

Commercial Context and DAZN’s Swiss Expansion

The implementation follows DAZN’s commercial push in Switzerland, where the streaming service launched a targeted business package for under 300 francs per month. The single commercial package bundles the Italian Serie A alongside Bundesliga, LALIGA, and Ligue 1 for commercial establishments.

Casinò di Lugano aims to capture both its regular visitors and sports fans who may already interact with the brand through its online platform, Swiss4Win.ch. While management is currently monitoring initial metrics such as foot traffic, average stay duration, and beverage consumption, Sanvido noted that structured rollout evaluations will guide any future infrastructure investments.
