Agricultural input manufacturer DOF has launched a premium specialized product named “Baechu Gelgu Daejang,” designed to supply essential nutrients for Chinese cabbage head formation during a period marked by escalating climate extremes, according to a company announcement on September 15, 2026. The product aims to mitigate crop growth imbalances and head formation failures driven by rising temperatures, droughts, and heavy rainfall.
Nutritional Formulation and Crop Resilience
The head-formation period dictates both the final yield and market quality of Chinese cabbage. According to DOF, the newly released formulation contains 7% nitrogen, 27% potassium, 10% calcium, 4% magnesium, 1% boron, and 3% amino acids. This combination is engineered to stimulate early nutrient and water uptake while supporting internal metabolic pathways required for tight, uniform head development. The inclusion of specialized amino acids is intended to boost physiological vigor and enhance tolerance against environmental stresses such as extreme heat, cold, and drought, while calcium helps strengthen plant cell walls to prevent tissue breakdown.
Application Methods and Crop Adaptability
Designed as an easily soluble powder formulation, the product accommodates both foliar spraying and fertigation (root irrigation) to simplify field management for growers. While tailored primarily for Chinese cabbage cultivation, the formulation is suitable for other heading crops including cabbages, lettuces, and various leafy vegetables. The company plans to expand its climate-adaptive crop nutrition lineup based on these ongoing agricultural trials.
