Seoul Fashion Week established a dual presence for the 2027 S/S season, combining business-to-business trade shows with public-facing events across South Korea’s capital. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the event integrated professional fashion platforms with consumer engagement to expand both international export markets and local accessibility.
DDP Trade Shows Generate Millions in Export Orders
The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) served as the primary hub for business transactions during the week. According to city data, the main trade show connected 106 South Korean fashion brands with 98 international buyers from 20 countries, resulting in $7.57 million worth of verified export order consultations.
Organizers utilized the DDP venue to anchor commercial buyers and brand representatives in a centralized marketplace.
Jamsil Landmarks Host Public Runways and Collaborations
Beyond the trade floor, the schedule expanded past traditional venues into public spaces. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, events took place at Jamsil Lotte World Tower and Seokchon Lake, moving away from a strictly closed-door format.
Runway presentations featured established labels such as Kimhekim and Dunst. Organizers paired these shows with commercial and cultural tie-ins, including private-sector collaborations with entities like Adidas alongside pop-culture elements featuring the K-pop group NCT.
Integrating Consumer Retail and Digital Exhibitions
The city government incorporated retail-focused initiatives to engage local consumers and international tourists directly. The schedule featured “See Now, Buy Now” retail mechanisms, allowing attendees to purchase runway items immediately.
Additional public attractions included a 10th-anniversary exhibition dedicated to NCT alongside pop-up markets. Cho Hye-jung, the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Director-General of Creative Industries, stated that the program connected diverse urban spaces with private-sector content to provide sensory cultural experiences while establishing practical pathways for domestic brands to enter global markets. City officials indicated plans to continue merging fashion with retail technology and K-culture to support the local apparel sector.
