The Los Angeles Kings announced 11 roster cuts ahead of their final preseason game, narrowing their training camp roster down to 29 players as the team prepares to finalize its NHL lineup for the regular season.
Roster Cuts and AHL Assignments
The Kings assigned five players directly to the Ontario Reign: forwards Angus Booth, Aatu Jamsen, Koehn Ziemmer, and defensemen Kirill Kirsanov and Jared Woolley. Five players were also placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL, including forwards Martin Chromiak, Cole Guttman, Lane Pederson, Francesco Pinelli, and defenseman Joe Hicketts. Meanwhile, Jan Jenik and Jakub Dvorak were placed on the injured non-roster list.
Remaining Training Camp Roster
Following these transactions, 29 players remain on the Kings’ training camp roster, consisting of 17 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders. The forward group features veterans and roster mainstays such as Adrian Kempe, Quinton Byfield, and Trevor Moore, alongside notable names carrying injuries or personal absences. Forward Mats Zuccarello has skated in a red, non-contact jersey while recovering, though he is expected to be ready for Opening Night. Forward Corey Perry remains away from the team for personal reasons, while Kevin Fiala and defenseman Otto Salin remain sidelined with injuries.
Goaltending and Blueline Outlook
Goaltender Erik Portillo remains with the main group and was not assigned to the AHL. Because Portillo is waiver-exempt, he can transfer freely between the NHL and AHL. With Darcy Kuemper and Anton Forsberg anchoring the goaltending tandem, Portillo occupies the third-string role in the organization.
