Asked by Sachedina about ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the United States and what message he had for Canadians, Prince Harry stated that he loves every single aspect of the country. According to his interview with CTV News, he believes Canada plays a vital part in international moral leadership before declining to elaborate further on the diplomatic friction.
Charity Skydiving Jump With Sunnybrook Veterans
The trip to Ontario fulfilled a promise Prince Harry made last November during a visit to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto. During that visit, he met Ed Marshall, a 102-year-old Second World War veteran and former paratrooper who had completed a fundraising skydive for his 100th birthday in 2024. Prince Harry promised Marshall he would return to accompany him on another jump.
While Marshall intended to participate again ahead of his 103rd birthday, medical evaluations prevented him from making the jump on Friday. Instead, Marshall watched from the back of the aircraft while his grandson, Bailey Fulen, took his place on the descent alongside the Duke of Sussex. Prince Harry landed in an open field in Innisfil, Ontario, where he was photographed kissing the ground.
Speaking to CTV News after the landing, Prince Harry admitted he had initial reservations about the jump and wished he could have backed out, but noted that Marshall proved very persuasive. Fulen told reporters that his family initially doubted the royal promise, expressing surprise when Prince Harry’s representatives actually arranged the event. The skydiving excursion raised funds for the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre and the True Patriot Love Foundation, a non-profit supporting military families.
Return to the United Kingdom and Invictus Games Focus
The visit to Canada follows news that emerged indicating that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to return to the United Kingdom after previously stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California. When Sachedina asked about the motivations behind the relocation, Prince Harry declined to elaborate, stating he wanted to keep the focus entirely on veteran fundraising.
“It’s been great. It’s been great to be back on British soil,” Prince Harry told CTV News, adding that his children are happy in school. He noted that the move allows him to focus on preparations for the Invictus Games, scheduled to take place in Birmingham in July next year.
The Duke of Sussex also emphasized his enduring personal ties to Canada, noting that his wife lived in the country for seven years and that Canada holds a special place in his heart.
