Apple’s upcoming iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max models will reportedly feature the largest displays in iPhone history alongside a quad-curved, nearly all-glass exterior, according to leaks from supply chain insiders. The rumored flagship devices, slated for a September 2027 release, point toward a major structural redesign coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the original iPhone launch in 2007.

Display Dimensions and Historical Size Comparisons
Leaker Digital Chat Station, an anonymous insider posting on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, reported that the iPhone 20 Pro screen will measure 6.41 inches diagonally, while the Pro Max will expand to 6.96 inches. These dimensions surpass the baseline set by the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, which measure 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches respectively, figures Apple rounds to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches.
By comparison, Apple’s first foldable device, the iPhone Duo featuring a 7.6-inch inner display when open, reaches stores on October 23. Industry analysts suggest Apple plans to skip the iPhone 19 designation entirely to align the hardware launch directly with the device’s two-decade milestone.
Quad-Curved Glass Exterior and Dynamic Island Adjustments
The reported quad-curved design corroborates an August report from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, which indicated that the exterior of the flagship phones would consist almost entirely of glass. In this configuration, front and back glass panels wrap around all four sides of the device to minimize visible bezels, leaving a slim metal band positioned in the middle. This marks a shift from the aluminum and ceramic glass exteriors used on the iPhone 18 Pro generation.
In addition to the revised chassis, the iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max are expected to incorporate a smaller Dynamic Island with a tiny punch-hole selfie cutout. The Dynamic Island functions as the capsule-shaped housing at the top of the display that manages system alerts, notifications, and background activities.
Cost Implications of Expanded Displays
Larger screens improve media consumption and multitasking on mobile devices, but hardware expansions typically drive up manufacturing and retail expenses. CNET Senior Reporter Abrar Al-Heeti noted that expanded physical dimensions give hardware manufacturers a rationale to increase consumer pricing.
“Along with the commemorative angle of the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, it’s likely Apple could use design elements like a bigger screen and an all-glass design to hike prices,” Al-Heeti stated.
Apple representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the unannounced hardware specifications or pricing strategies.
