Park Ji-hyun Earns International Emmy Award Nomination

Park competes in the category alongside Mona Mina Leon for the Belgian drama Holy Sh!t, Bárbara Mori for Mexico’s Lucca’s World, and Sheridan Smith for the United Kingdom’s I Fought the Law. Released in September of last year, Eun-jung and Sang-yeon traces the complex relationship and conflicts between two lifelong friends, Eun-jung (played by Kim Go-eun) and Sang-yeon (played by Park Ji-hyun), across their teens and forties while addressing the controversial subject of assisted dying.

Hyper Knife Secures TV Movie and Miniseries Nomination

In addition to Park’s acting nomination, the Disney+ original series Hyper Knife, starring Park Eun-bin and Sol Kyung-gu, secured a nomination in the TV Movie/Miniseries category. The series competes against Spain’s The Anatomy of a Moment, Brazil’s Oxygen Mask Will Not Drop Automatically, and the United Kingdom’s Prisoner 951.

Winners will be announced on November 23 in New York City, according to Yonhap News Agency. The International Emmy Awards were established in 1973 to introduce outstanding television programs produced outside the United States to American viewers. Alongside Canada’s Banff TV Festival and Monaco’s Monte-Carlo TV Festival, the International Emmys are recognized as one of the world’s top three broadcasting awards, remaining distinct from the Primetime Emmy Awards.

South Korea’s Prior International Emmy History

South Korean television has a growing presence at the International Emmys. Last year, the webtoon-adapted Netflix series Chicken Nugget earned a nomination in the Comedy category, though it did not win. Prior to that, the KBS 2TV drama The King’s Affection won the International Emmy in 2022, marking the first time a Korean drama received the honor.
