Broadening Partnerships Beyond Traditional Film
The two nations agreed to broaden their cultural partnership beyond traditional film and publishing sectors. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Culture Minister Choi Hwi-young and joint committee co-chair Park Jin-young met with Mexican Culture Minister Claudia Curiel de Icasa at the National Museum of Textiles in Mexico City to sign a dedicated cultural cooperation memorandum of understanding.
Targeting Co-Productions and Talent Training
Minister Choi stated that the agreement supports joint creation and production, talent training, and expanded industrial cooperation. Minister Curiel de Icasa emphasized mutual interest in television and film co-productions.
Infrastructure Demands for Live Performances
To implement the agreement, both governments established a working group. Park noted that high demand for K-pop performances in Mexico necessitates bilateral cooperation to build pop culture performance facilities.
Tourism Frameworks and Institutional Exchange
Alongside the cultural pact, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism finalized a tourism cooperation memorandum of understanding with Mexico’s tourism authorities. The agreement establishes frameworks to increase bilateral human exchanges and share best practices in tourism policy, market statistics, and data.
Cross-Sector Agreements and Sustainable Travel
The broader presidential agreements span government agencies, local authorities, private sectors, and academic institutions. Both administrations intend to promote regional tourism and sustainable travel initiatives while utilizing existing cultural infrastructure, including K-culture centers, through a newly designated joint working group.
