The Professional Darts Corporation has released its official 2027 tournament schedule, introducing a brand-new major event in Salzburg and expanding the European Tour to France for the first time. According to the PDC, the upcoming season features a streamlined calendar for secondary circuits alongside key format adjustments for major televised championships.
European Open Debuts as Austria’s New Major
The headline addition to the 2027 calendar is the European Open, a new major tournament scheduled to run from June 18 to June 20 in Salzburg, Austria. While industry speculation had previously linked Germany to a new major venue, the PDC awarded the tournament to Austria, returning a major event to the country. According to PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter, the inclusion of the European Open strengthens an already extensive year-round program.
European Tour Expands to Liévin
The 15-event European Tour will visit France for the first time in 2027, with Liévin hosting a tournament from March 19 to 21. Porter noted that expanding the series into new regions represents a natural step for the international growth of the PDC circuit. To accommodate the French debut, Belgium’s tour stop moves to Ghent, while established venues in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Netherlands remain on the schedule.
Expanded Format for European Championship
Major televised tournaments retain their core homes, but structural shifts affect select events. The European Darts Championship in Dortmund will expand from four to six days, running from October 26 to 31. Meanwhile, the Premier League Darts schedule begins on February 4 in Glasgow, concluding with the play-offs on May 27 at London’s O2 Arena. The World Matchplay takes place from July 17 to 25 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, accompanied on its final day by the Women’s World Matchplay.
Secondary Circuits Trimmed to 18 Events
The PDC has restructured its developmental tiers for 2027, reducing both the Challenge Tour and the Development Tour to 18 tournaments down from 24 the previous year. Instead of hosting two events per day, the schedule moves to a single tournament per daily session. Floor events will see increased presence on the European mainland, with multiple blocks scheduled in Hildesheim and Den Bosch, alongside regular fixtures in England.
