Prince Harry responded by emphasizing his affection for the country and its standing on the global stage. “I love every single thing about Canada and I think Canada plays an incredibly important part in moral leadership in today’s world and I’ll leave it at that,” he told CTV News. Skydiving Promise Fulfilled for 102-Year-Old Veteran
The trip fulfilled a promise Prince Harry made last November during a visit to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto, where he first met 102-year-old former paratrooper Ed Marshall. Marshall had shared photos of a fundraising skydive he performed for his 100th birthday in 2024, prompting the Duke to promise he would return to accompany him on another jump. Marshall, who will turn 103 in a few months, ultimately could not jump due to medical evaluations. Instead, his grandson, Bailey Fullan, took his place while Marshall watched from the back of the aircraft. “I am not in the business of letting people down but you cannot let a 102-year-old veteran down,” Prince Harry told CTV News after landing in an open field in Innisfil, Ontario.
Charity Fundraising and U.K. Relocation Focus
Friday’s jump raised funds for the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre and the True Patriot Love Foundation, a non-profit supporting veterans and their families. After landing, the Duke kissed the ground and spoke by phone with the Duchess of Sussex, who he noted was relieved to see him back safely. The appearance follows news of the Duke and Duchess’s recent decision to return to the United Kingdom after previously stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California. Addressing the move to CTV News, Prince Harry noted he had many reasons for the transition but chose not to elaborate in order to keep the focus on veteran charities. “It’s been great to be back on British soil. The kids are happy in school and it gives me a chance to be able to really focus on the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July next year,” he said.
