Behavioral Health and Recovery Services provides comprehensive mental health support across multiple regional clinic locations, utilizing walk-in evaluation models to connect clients with immediate care. The agency operates outpatient facilities in Daly City, San Mateo, Half Moon Bay, Redwood City, and East Palo Alto to serve individuals of all ages.
Same-Day Assistance and Walk-In Evaluations
To improve openness and responsiveness for community members seeking prompt access to care, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services implemented Same-Day Assistance across its clinics. New clients can walk into any regional clinic to request an evaluation on a first-come, first-served basis, though wait times for an available clinician may occur. Same-Day Assistance functions as a brief evaluation screening appointment where individuals discuss their concerns, desired services, and available clinic treatments. Clinicians offer follow-up appointments to individuals who meet eligibility requirements for clinic services.
Regional Clinic Services and Care Coordination
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services regional clinics deliver a diverse array of therapeutic and stabilization interventions. Available services include targeted clinical case management, rehabilitation, care coordination, crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, intensive services where appropriate, intensive care coordination, and peer support services. Clients can access these programs by calling or walking into any of the county-operated outpatient sites.
Medication Management During Transitions
Clients currently prescribed psychiatric medications are advised to request a one to three-month supply from their current provider during transitions of care. The agency notes that securing an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner can take one to four weeks. While the psychiatrist on duty may be consulted for urgent medication refill requests, the agency cannot guarantee that medications will be prescribed on the same day.
