Tennis champion Serena Williams maintains a diverse real estate portfolio across Florida, California, New York, and France, featuring notable properties such as a custom-renovated 14,500-square-foot Spanish Mediterranean-style Florida residence designed in collaboration with her sister, Venus Williams. With 23 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals, Williams has bought, renovated, and sold multiple multimillion-dollar homes throughout her career.
Co-Owned Florida and New York Properties With Venus Williams
Early real estate investments were shared ventures between Serena and Venus Williams. In 1998, the sisters purchased a one-acre lot in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for $525,000. Over two years, they built an 8,500-square-foot home featuring six bedrooms, a home theater, and a private lake within the BallenIsles Country Club gated community. They sold the property in early 2019 for $2.3 million.
In 2005, the sisters acquired an 1,800-square-foot loft apartment at 28 West 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan for roughly $1.3 million. The prewar property featured 12-foot ceilings and oak floors.
California Estates in Bel-Air and Beverly Hills
Williams purchased her first major solo California property in 2006, buying a 2.7-acre estate on Stone Canyon Road in Bel-Air for slightly over $6.6 million. The 6,100-square-foot Mediterranean-style home included six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a hair and makeup salon, and a poolside loggia. Williams listed the property in October 2017 for nearly $12 million before selling it in 2019 for $8.1 million to interior designer Rodrigo Vargas.
Following her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December 2016 and the birth of their daughter Olympia in September 2017, the couple purchased a five-bedroom, three-story Spanish-style mansion in a gated Beverly Hills community for $6.68 million. They sold the property in 2021 for $7.1 million.
Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens Holdings in Florida
Williams established a frequent home base in Jupiter, Florida, purchasing a 2.4-acre vacant lot in the Bear’s Club golf community for $4.12 million in 2013. She never developed the land, eventually selling the parcel in 2018 to Patrón founder Edward Brown for $6 million. In May 2015, Williams acquired a five-bedroom Georgian-style mansion in a gated Palm Beach Gardens community for $2.5 million.
Her most publicized Florida residence is a 14,500-square-foot Spanish Mediterranean-style estate purchased in 2017. Over a three-year period, Serena enlisted Venus Williams to lead a total interior renovation. “You have to know your lane. I’m really good at playing tennis; I’m not as good at interiors. But I was able to learn through just watching Venus,” Serena told Architectural Digest during a 2021 walkthrough. The home features a converted foyer turned art gallery, which Williams identified as her favorite space in the house.
European Outpost in Paris
To accommodate her schedule during the French Open—which she won in 2002, 2013, and 2015—Williams purchased a two-bedroom pied-à-terre in Paris’s 7th arrondissement in 2007. Having set a childhood goal to learn French while training with her father, Williams maintained the outpost for nearly two decades. In a 2016 Snapchat tour, she highlighted the apartment’s neutral gray floors, black doors, and a custom kitchen renovation.
