Capital Traffic Incidents
Saturday’s pedestrian strike marked the second injurious traffic accident recorded in the capital city within the same day. Earlier in the morning, a separate collision involving two passenger cars and a camper occurred in the Vladaya district. Initial reports indicate one of the vehicles lost control on a curve, collided with the camper, and subsequently struck a second automobile carrying two foreign nationals. Emergency responders transported the two foreign citizens to a medical facility for examination, though officials released no immediate updates regarding their conditions.
Nationwide Traffic Fatalities
The weekend accidents contributed to a deadly Saturday on national roadways, which saw a total of six fatalities. Five of those deaths occurred across two separate crashes in the Lovech region, while a sixth person died during a head-on collision in the Veliko Tarnovo area. A midday crash near Sopot village in the Ugarchin municipality resulted in the deaths of four men. Later in the afternoon, an oncoming collision near the Slatina junction along the Lovech-Pleven road killed one driver and left two others injured.
Statistics provided for the ongoing month indicate that 33 individuals have lost their lives in road accidents, alongside approximately 700 reported injuries. Since the beginning of the year, traffic incidents have claimed 346 lives, with injuries approaching 6,300. For comparison, traffic accidents caused 321 deaths during the exact same timeframe last year.
