Larson delivered a historic performance at Kansas Speedway, breaking the track record for laps led by pacing the field for 235 circuits. According to official race results, Larson set the fastest lap of the day on Lap 2 with a time of 30.076 seconds.
The driver battled Chase Briscoe in the closing laps, overtaking him with seven laps remaining. Larson crossed the finish line 0.565 seconds ahead of runner-up Austin Cindric to secure the 34th NASCAR Cup Series victory of his career.
Playoff Standings and Championship Cushion
Entering the Kansas event, Larson held a razor-thin one-point advantage over Hamlin in the standings. Following his maximum-points sweep, Larson commands a 26-point cushion with six races remaining in the 2026 title fight.
Hamlin finished inside the top five, securing third place in the race and maintaining his position near the top of the championship hunt. Christopher Bell moved past Joey Logano into third in the standings, sitting 50 points behind Larson.
Cindric Climbs While Hocevar Slips
Austin Cindric posted the day’s biggest gain among front-runners, jumping two positions to ninth in the standings following his second-place finish, which he described as coming in one of the best race cars he has ever driven, according to VCP Motorsports reporting. Conversely, Carson Hocevar suffered the steepest drop in the standings, falling three spots to 11th after sustaining heavy crash damage that relegated him outside the top 30.
Engine Failures and Lead-Lap Attrition
Out of 36 starters, 35 finished the race. Noah Gragson recorded the sole DNF of the afternoon after suffering a major engine failure on lap 112. Twenty drivers finished on the lead lap, with Joey Logano rounding out that group in 20th place after cutting a tire in the closing laps.
The Cup Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway next weekend for the next round of the 2026 playoffs.
