Santa Monica Studio has announced that pre-orders for God of War Laufey will open on September 29, accompanied by new gameplay footage and combat details showcasing the titular heroine’s weapon systems. The title is scheduled for release on February 16, 2027, exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
The narrative is set following the death of Faye, Kratos’s wife, who perishes at the start of God of War (2018). The game follows her struggle for survival and liberation in Everywhen, the afterlife world of the gods.
Serpent’s Bow and Combat Mechanics
While Faye’s primary weapon remains her sword, the developer revealed a brand-new ranged addition called the Serpent’s Bow. This weapon allows her to fight at a distance, seamlessly combine shooting with close-quarters attacks, and utilize various arrow types. The bow enables precise targeting of enemy weak spots; by charging her shot, Faye can aim at specific parts of opponents to affect their movement or abilities. She can also prepare up to five arrows at once while charging.
Players will have access to rapid, explosive, and multi-targeted arrows. The bow can also be customized and upgraded using scales that alter both its appearance and properties. Combat features two main mechanics: long-range shooting where Faye targets specific body points, and hip-firing suited for closer distances.

Players who pre-order God of War Laufey will receive a trio of bonus items:
