IDRX and AUDD Partner for Australia-Indonesia Stablecoin Cross-Border Payments

AUDC Pty Ltd and PT IDRX Indo Inovasi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a direct cross-border payment corridor between Australia and Indonesia using the AUDD and IDRX stablecoins. This partnership aims to enable trade and business settlements without relying on the U.S. dollar as an intermediary currency.

AUDD and IDRX to Bypass US Dollar in Trade Settlements

The agreement between AUDC Pty Ltd, the issuer of the Australian Dollar stablecoin (AUDD), and PT IDRX Indo Inovasi, the issuer of the Rupiah stablecoin (IDRX), focuses on researching on-chain transaction settlements. By connecting these two digital assets, the companies intend to create a direct payment path for export-import transactions and general business payments between the two nations.

Effie Dimitropoulos, CEO of AUDC, stated that the collaboration addresses a growing need for modern payment infrastructure. She noted that while Australia and Indonesia maintain close economic ties through trade and tourism, many current transactions rely on legacy systems that increase costs, complexity, and processing times.

Improving Efficiency in Asia-Pacific Digital Finance

The initiative seeks to simplify the movement of funds by operating stablecoin infrastructure within established regulatory frameworks. According to Dimitropoulos, the goal is to build transaction settlement paths that support regional business activity and economic relations as stablecoins gain wider adoption in financial infrastructure.

Nathanael Christian, CEO of IDRX, said that linking IDRX and AUDD directly demonstrates the potential for local-currency-based stablecoins to improve the efficiency of regional payment networks. He added that this approach supports the broader development of digital financial infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region.

Comparison of Traditional vs. Stablecoin Settlement

Feature Legacy Payment Infrastructure AUDD/IDRX Stablecoin Corridor
Intermediary Currency Often requires U.S. Dollar (USD) Direct AUD to IDR settlement
Processing Speed Slower due to legacy banking rails Faster via on-chain transactions
Cost Structure Higher fees from intermediary banks Reduced costs through direct connectivity

Addressing Regional Trade and Tourism Needs

By implementing a digital corridor, the two firms aim to reduce the friction associated with daily fund flows. The focus remains on creating an accessible transaction environment that replaces the “old payment infrastructure” cited by AUDC leadership.
