Margi, a Schiedam resident who walks her dachshund in the park, stated that a neighbor’s dog named Buddy fell ill just hours after consuming something on the grounds.
Buddy experienced severe vomiting that included blood, prompting an immediate veterinary visit where the owner learned another dog had died that same day after visiting the park.
Unidentified Substance Triggers Community Alert
What the animals ingested remains unknown.
Margi reported that she participates in a messaging group with other local dog owners where multiple pets are currently suffering from severe illnesses.
Police confirmed they are aware of the situation and have placed warning signs throughout the park reading ‘Mogelijk gif aanwezig. Let op uw kind/huisdier!’ (Poison possibly present. Watch your child/pet!).
Forensic Testing Scheduled for This Week
A police spokesperson stated that authorities are actively investigating whether a criminal offense occurred.
Pathological and toxicological examinations of the park grounds are scheduled to take place during the week.
