Corinthians registra déficit de R$ 278,7 milhões em sete meses

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista reported a financial deficit of R$ 278,7 milhões for the first seven months of the year, driven by unexpected expenses and missed player sales targets. According to financial data released by the club, July alone accounted for a negative result of R$ 32,6 milhões, pushing total club indebtedness to approximately R$ 2,86 bilhões.

Drivers Behind the Rising Deficit

The club attributed the widening gap between budgeted projections and actual expenditures to several unbudgeted costs. Financial records show that Corinthians paid R$ 32,5 milhões this year in player bonuses tied to the team’s performance in the 2025 Copa do Brasil, an expense that was not accounted for in the initial planning for that scale.

Additional financial pressure stemmed from transaction and accounting adjustments. The club incurred R$ 6,076 milhões in exchange rate taxes related to paying off its debt to Santos Laguna for the acquisition of Félix Torres. The balance sheet also recorded R$ 16,307 milhões in contingency funds and accounting reviews.

Missed Transfer Targets

Corinthians also fell short of its internal targets for player sales during the midyear transfer window. The club originally projected raising at least R$ 75 milhões from player departures by March, a milestone it failed to reach. Management previously attempted to negotiate the transfers of André to Milan and Breno Bidon to Besiktas.

Addressing the club’s financial strategy in an interview with CNN Esportes S/A, Corinthians executive football director Marcelo Paz indicated that André is expected to be sold soon, describing the impending transaction as an important financial gain for the institution.
