Patrick Dana Miller, a Little Rock investment professional, Air Force veteran, and lifelong outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 78, according to an obituary published by Ruebel Funeral Home. A celebration of his life is scheduled for August 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock.
Early Life and Military Service
Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on February 3, 1948, to Roy Dale and Margaret Hollingsworth Miller, Pat grew up working at his parents’ business, the Hollingsworth Feed Store. During his youth in El Dorado, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, played high school football, and served as student body president for the class of 1966. He subsequently attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating in 1970 and joining the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Facing the military draft during the Vietnam War, Miller enrolled in the university’s ROTC program. This initiative secured him a commission in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain. Stationed in Thailand during the conflict, he managed and operated the base Officer’s Club.
Financial Career and Community Involvement
Following his military service, Miller launched a lengthy career in the investment industry in 1974 with Merrill Lynch in Little Rock. Over the decades, he built brokerage expertise with TJ Raney & Sons, Stephens, and Worthen Investments. In 1996, he co-founded Millennium Capital Advisors as a joint venture with the accounting firm Moore Stephens Frost. He maintained personal client relationships until his retirement in 2023, favoring direct phone calls and face-to-face meetings over technological shifts in brokerage operations.
Outside of finance, Miller contributed to numerous local organizations. He volunteered and served on boards for the Little Rock Boys and Girls Club, the Arkansas Heart Association, the Little Rock Wastewater Commission, and chaired the Little Rock Country Club 4-ball. He was also an active parishioner at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Family Life and Personal Interests
Miller married Cynthia Marian Coates in January 1976. The couple raised two children, Mat and Marian. Following his wife’s passing, Miller spent his later years in companionship with childhood friend Carol Garison Kiernan.
An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Miller spent considerable time on golf courses across the United States with friends in his “Cocoa Butter” group and Wednesday evenings with the “Hump Night” group at the Country Club of Little Rock. During duck hunting season, he frequented his duck lodge, The Milwyck, in DeWitt, shared with lifelong friend Wyck Nisbet. He was also known locally for distributing bottles of his homemade barbecue sauce during the Christmas season.
Final Illness and Memorial Services
In his final years, Miller battled intestinal cancer and associated surgical complications. His family acknowledged the care provided by lifelong friend Dr. Dean Kumpuris, who made house calls during the illness, as well as the staff at the Arkansas Hospice Comfort Care Center.
Miller is survived by his children, Mat Miller and Marian Steward; four grandchildren; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife Cindy, his parents, his brother Mike, and his niece Michelle.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 1000 N. Mississippi in Little Rock, with a reception to follow. The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock.
