Thesecretadversary, a Group 1-winning three-year-old colt trained by Fozzy Stack, has been acquired by Sam Sangster and will wear the famous Sangster silks in the Qatar Prix de la Foret at Longchamp. Previously owned by Cayton Park Stud and Sue Magnier, the St Mark’s Basilica colt is scheduled to remain in training as a four-year-old.
Purchase and Historic Silks in the Prix de la Foret
The acquisition brings Thesecretadversary under the banner of Sam Sangster Bloodstock ahead of Sunday’s Group 1 contest at Longchamp. The colt established his credentials during his three-year-old campaign by capturing the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot under a penalty before securing a breakthrough Group 1 victory in the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville. Sam Sangster noted that he monitored the horse closely following his Royal Ascot performance. According to Sangster, the colt’s ability to quicken clear in a race with form that has since been franked made a strong statement, leading to the purchase.
Future Campaign Plans and Previous Successes
Sam Sangster Bloodstock executed a comparable maneuver last year with the Aidan O’Brien-trained Diego Velazquez prior to the Prix Jacques le Marois. That investment yielded a Group 1 triumph before the colt retired to the National Stud. Thesecretadversary follows a similar trajectory, with connections confirming he will stay in training next year. Sangster described the colt as an impressive individual with sufficient size and scope to improve further as a four-year-old. Fozzy Stack continues his training duties with the horse heading into the Longchamp fixture.
