Nine surgical residents completed their specialized medical training at Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza.

Hospital Loayza Graduation Ceremony Highlights Specialized Training

During the graduation ceremony, Hospital Loayza General Director Dr. Eduardo Yong Motta congratulated the new specialists on their dedication. “These have been three intense years where you have dedicated yourselves fully to helping the patient,” Dr. Yong Motta said, emphasizing that clinical practice must remain centered on patient welfare while urging the doctors to pursue continuous professional development throughout their careers.

The event also featured remarks from Dr. Gonzalo Jara Chalco, advisor to the General Directorate, and Dr. Carlos Otiniano Alvarado, head of the General Surgery and Abdominal Wall Department. Dr. Otiniano urged the newly minted specialists to apply their acquired knowledge with rigor to manage challenges in their daily work.

Mentorship and Institutional Legacy

Dr. Alan Renán Querevalú Olivares served as the godfather of the graduating class, advising the surgeons to put the practical lessons learned during their residency into action. He noted that the hands-on experience gained within the operating rooms and wards of the hospital leaves a lasting mark on a physician’s career trajectory.

Reflecting on the cohort’s journey, outgoing chief of residents Dr. Jessenia Chaupis Zevallos highlighted the resilience required to complete the program. “Residency is a demanding stage, full of challenges and learning,” Dr. Chaupis Zevallos said. “Today we complete a stage, but we begin new challenges; we will continue practicing surgery with commitment, humanity, and vocation.”

The graduation reinforces Hospital Loayza’s tradition as a medical training center in Peru, supplying qualified professionals to meet national healthcare demands.
