Blood Donation Drives in Mettmann and Erkrath this October

The German Red Cross has announced urgent blood donation drives across Mettmann and Erkrath for October, citing seasonal supply shortages driven by autumn travel and holiday movement. Officials are rolling out targeted incentives, including custom coffee cups and specialty sea salt, to attract both first-time contributors and regular donors during the upcoming collection window.

Upcoming October Blood Donation Dates in Mettmann and Erkrath

The German Red Cross has scheduled two primary collection events to stabilize local inventories during a period typically marked by lower turnout due to travel. According to the organization, the first session takes place on Monday, October 12, running from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Kaplan-Flintrop-Haus located at Lutterbecker Straße 30 in Mettmann. A second drive follows on Friday, October 16, from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the städtische Realschule Erkrath, situated at Karlstraße 7-9.

Donor Incentives Aimed at First-Time Contributors

To address the drop in participation, the German Red Cross is offering specific gifts to encourage new donor registration this autumn. First-time donors who complete a donation at either the Mettmann or Erkrath locations will receive a reusable coffee-to-go cup. In addition, returning donors and new participants alike will receive a small tin of Fleur de Sel sea salt sourced from the Camargue region of France as a token of appreciation.

Eligibility Requirements and What to Bring

Prospective donors must meet basic health and age criteria before participating in the collection drives. The German Red Cross stipulates that individuals must be at least 18 years old and feeling healthy on the day of donation, with no upper age limit currently enforced. Participants must bring a valid national identity card or driver’s license to the appointment. Organizers recommend eating a substantial meal and drinking plenty of fluids beforehand, advising attendees to set aside approximately one hour for the complete donation process.

How to Find Schedule Updates

Donors looking for schedule modifications or additional collection sites can access real-time updates through official channels. The German Red Cross provides a toll-free hotline at 0800 11 949 11 alongside its dedicated scheduling portal at www.blutspende.jetzt, where complete listings of regional donation opportunities are maintained.
