The low-key wedding was attended by Harris’ two children, Sloane, 5, and Ocean, 4, whom she shares with her ex-wife Ali Krieger, according to Vogue. Bush’s best friend, Nia Batts, officiated the ceremony. Describing the atmosphere to Vogue, Bush said the children ran around happily while picking flowers from the property, noting that daughter Sloane held them. Bush called the day “so precious” and free of pressure, adding that the evening ended with roasted marshmallows.

Because Harris spent her athletic career playing in stadiums in front of 60,000 people, and Bush has played characters for tens of millions of people, the couple intentionally chose a private setting. “When you get to this stage in your life, you begin to unpack what’s yours and what’s always sort of been for everyone else,” Bush explained to Vogue. After the ceremony, the couple visited family and friends in person to share the news.

Writing about the experience in her book excerpt, Bush shared that they wept, laughed, and exchanged rings as an invisible string pulled tighter around them. She told Vogue that referring to Harris as her wife feels amazing, calling the milestone the first chapter of her life that feels wholly divinely hers.

The couple’s relationship went public in 2023 on the heels of their respective divorces. Harris filed for divorce from Krieger in September 2023 after nearly four years of marriage, and Page Six confirmed the Olympian’s romance with Bush the following month. Bush officially came out as queer in an April 2024 cover story for Glamour.

In subsequent interviews, Bush pushed back against rampant online speculation regarding the timing of her relationship with Harris. She denied rumors that her marriage to businessman Grant Hughes—whom she divorced in 2023 after a marriage between 2022 and 2023—ended due to an affair, stating the rumors never happened.
