One of the plagues of contemporary society is bullying. Obviously it must be fought on every level, but it is a problem that must also be fought on a cultural level. This is why I want to tell how a Milanese singer-songwriter, who attends an international school, reacted at just 17 years old with a song that aims to be an act of resilience aimed at young people and adults. The pop anthem is called “Cuore di Scorta”, and is the new single by Angy, born Angelica Peruzzo. With this project the girl addresses the topic of bullying with an unexpected tone: light, ironic, almost caricatural. A way to play down a deep wound and tell the story of the path that led her to rediscover herself. Behind the song there is a strong personal experience. Angelica, a reserved, very sensitive girl, experienced an episode of bullying in a painful and silent way. Only over time – he explained – did he find the courage to talk about it, first through writing, with the collection of poems “16 Battiti”, and today with music. “Cuore di Scorta” is for her a cathartic gesture, an emotional liberation. And it also wants to be an alternative interpretation: sometimes those who do harm are themselves fragile, in difficulty, driven by insecurities or a complex family context. “Understanding does not mean justifying, but promoting awareness and prevention”, underlined the young artist. In the text, the image of an “escape room” represents the emotional prison of those who feel judged and isolated. The “bad vibes” that remain and “sleeping alone sucks” evoke the more human and vulnerable side of those who have felt excluded or hurt. But the spark of the song lies precisely in its ability to lighten the pain without denying it and the refrain – “I swear I would have liked at least one spare heart” – becomes a pop and powerful metaphor of resilience. A spare heart to survive when your self gets hurt.
