Woman Dies in A1 Crash Near Torness Power Station

A woman died, and four others were injured in a two-vehicle collision on the A1 near Torness Power Station in East Lothian, Scotland, on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The crash involved a Renault Austral and a Land Rover Defender.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred around 9:05 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Emergency services responded to the scene near Torness Power Station. The female front passenger of the Renault Austral was pronounced dead at the scene. STV News reported that the driver and a rear passenger of the Renault, as well as the driver of the Land Rover Defender, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Road Closure and Investigation

The A1 was closed in both directions for approximately seven hours to allow for investigations to be carried out. The road reopened at 4:15 pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026. STV News stated that police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to approach forward.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville of the Road Policing Unit said, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died. Our enquiries are continuing, and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”
