Kyle Fletcher Reveals Childhood Wrestling Heroes: Jeff Hardy, The Miz, and Recent Japan Legends

AEW TBS Champion Kyle Fletcher, at 27 years old, has begun to inspire a new generation of wrestlers. However, the “Protostar” hasn’t been shy about sharing the influences that shaped his own wrestling dreams, revealing a diverse range of heroes from both WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

From Hardy to Liger: A Diverse Range of Influences

During an appearance on “The Masked Man Indicate,” Fletcher discussed his favorite wrestlers growing up. Surprisingly, Randy Orton, a wrestler he’s often compared to, wasn’t his initial inspiration. Instead, Fletcher cited Jeff Hardy as the performer who first ignited his passion for professional wrestling.

“So my very first favorite wrestler was Jeff Hardy,” Fletcher said. “He was kind of the man that made me fall in love with pro wrestling.”

Fletcher’s tastes then evolved to include The Miz, before discovering the world of New Japan Pro Wrestling. He specifically highlighted Jushin Liger and Prince Devitt (now known as Finn Balor) as significant influences.

“And then from Jeff, it was then, you’ll love this, The Miz was my next big favorite. The Miz, yup. And then from there, I got into a lot of Japanese wrestling. New Japan Pro Wrestling was kind of my next thing that I fell in love with. Jushin Liger was a big one for me. And then Prince Devitt as well. And yeah, probably Kenny Omega next after that were my favorites,” Fletcher explained.

Fletcher’s eclectic mix of influences demonstrates a broad appreciation for wrestling styles and personalities, reflecting the diverse landscape of the sport.
