Ahmed Abdi: Man Charged with Murder in South Belfast

A 33-year-classic man, Ahmed Abdi, has been identified as the victim of a murder investigation in South Belfast. Mr. Abdi died in hospital on February 11th following an incident in the Botanic area of the city. A 32-year-old man has been charged with his murder and appeared in court last week.

Incident Details

Police responded to reports of a concern for safety on Cromwell Road, where emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene . Mr. Abdi was subsequently taken to hospital, but sadly passed away. Police are treating his death as a murder investigation, launched on February 13th .

Legal Proceedings

A 32-year-old man, Isaac Koko, of Cromwell Road, Belfast, appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, February 15th, charged with Mr. Abdi’s murder . He was remanded in custody, with the case next due to be mentioned on Tuesday, March 10th .

Detective Inspector Jack Kelly, from the Police Service’s Major Investigation Team, expressed his condolences, stating, “My thoughts are with Ahmed’s family at this difficult time, as they endeavor to come to terms with their loss” .
