Air Canada has announced a firm order for eight Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, a strategic move designed to enhance its long-haul capabilities and support global expansion plans. According to a company statement, the new A350-1000s will facilitate seamless, non-stop service from Canada to rapidly growing regions including the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia. This expansion aims to capitalize on increasing demand for travel to and from these destinations.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo, emphasized the benefits of the A350-1000. “The aircraft brings next-generation capabilities and greater efficiency to air Canada, opening up new long-haul opportunities around the world,” he stated. The A350-1000 is equipped with advanced Rolls-Royce engines and constructed with lightweight materials, resulting in a significant 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to older generation aircraft.
