Aiva Anagnostiadis Eyes 2026 Racing Return After Leg Injury
Armed with a strengthened determination, Australian racer Aiva Anagnostiadis is focused on returning to competitive motorsport after a challenging 2025 season cut short by a broken leg. The 18-year-traditional is diligently working towards a full recovery and preparing for a potential racing comeback in 2026.
Rookie Season and Setback in F1 Academy
Anagnostiadis was competing in the all-female F1 Academy series in 2025, gaining valuable experience in her rookie year. She secured points in two of the ten races she participated in, competing against drivers with more experience in single-seater cars. Her 2025 season was marked by a steep learning curve, with qualifying sessions proving particularly difficult.
Unfortunately, her season came to an abrupt end after sustaining a broken left fibula during a running incident. The injury forced her to miss the final two rounds of the season in Singapore and Las Vegas. Anagnostiadis underwent surgery to repair the fracture, but further complications arose during the procedure.
Recovery and Rehabilitation
Following surgery, it was discovered that Anagnostiadis had also torn ligaments around the bone, requiring additional repair work. This extended her recovery period significantly. “They went in for the operation to put the screw in and found all the ligaments torn around the bone,” she explained to ABC Sport. The recovery process has been extensive, with Anagnostiadis dedicating herself to daily physiotherapy.
After months of rehabilitation, Anagnostiadis recently began running and has even tested her leg in a kart, reporting positive results. She is now focused on building the strength and confidence needed to return to racing.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Despite the setback, Anagnostiadis remains determined to continue her racing career. She spent the off-season organizing sponsorship opportunities and planning the next phase of her development. While her racing plans for 2026 are yet to be confirmed, she is actively pursuing testing opportunities in race cars to assess her readiness.

Early Career Highlights
Anagnostiadis’ passion for motorsport stems from a family background steeped in racing. Her mother was a competitive go-karter, introducing her to the sport at the age of six. She quickly excelled in karting, winning the Australian Ladies Trophy at the 2021 Australian Kart Championship and competing at the 2022 Motorsport Games in France.
In 2023, she was selected for the Alpine Rac(H)er Academy Programme, relocating to the UK to further her racing ambitions. She transitioned to single-seaters in 2024, competing in the Indian F4 Championship, before joining Hitech TGR in F1 Academy for 2025.
The 2026 F1 Academy season is scheduled to begin in China on March 13-15.
