Alain Isatelle Honored with National Order of Merit in Alès
A ceremony was held this Friday evening in the state room of the town hall of Alès to award the medal of the National Order of Merit to Alésien dental surgeon Alain Isatelle, in the presence of Mayor Christophe Rivenq and holder of the Legion of Honor, Max Roustan.
A Career Dedicated to Dentistry
The ceremony recognized Alain Isatelle’s long-standing commitment to the field of dentistry. Marian Mirabello, chief of staff to the mayor of Alès, highlighted Isatelle’s achievements, noting he was the “youngest of his class and youngest dentist in France at 22 years old,” and that he established his practice in Alès, serving the community for 41 years.
Continued Commitment to Healthcare in Guyana
Despite his official retirement, Alain Isatelle continues to practice dentistry, dedicating his time to providing care in the north of Guyana, a region described as a “super medical desert” with only 3 dentists serving a population of 96,000 inhabitants.
A Sense of Civic Duty
Isatelle explained his ongoing commitment, stating, “It seems natural to me to continue to put my skills at the service of my fellow citizens, knowing that it was the French State which financed a large part of my studies and allowed me to access higher education. This chance to access a high level of education is not possible everywhere.”
