Fraudulent Loans and Cash Withdrawals Target 84-Year-Old Resident in Añatuya

An 84-year-old resident living in the Villa Abregú neighborhood of Añatuya discovered that multiple loans and cash withdrawals were processed in her name without her knowledge. The case is currently under investigation by Comisaría Comunitaria N.º 41 and has been referred to the local judiciary.

The victim is unable to sign her name and relies on her 47-year-old daughter to manage her funds due to her advanced age. According to police records, the victim lost her debit card in August. The financial discrepancies came to light on October 20, when the daughter visited a bank to check the available balance for purchasing basic necessities.

Bank Discovers Unrecognized Loans and ATM Withdrawals

Bank officials informed the family that the account showed applications for several loans along with repeated unauthorized cash withdrawals. The official report indicates that suspicious ATM transactions began months before the debit card was reported lost. Recorded movements span March, April, May, July, and August, alongside a final withdrawal attempt on the morning of October 20.

Prosecutor Dr. Guillermo Farías intervened in the case, which has been provisionally classified as a suspected fraud offense. The legal official requested detailed transaction records to determine the exact financial damage and called for security camera footage from the ATMs to identify the individuals responsible for the transactions.
