Anders Lind Makes Comic History and Prepares for Frankfurt

Professional table tennis player Anders Lind became a comic book character in the April edition of the Danish Disney publication Anders And & Co., tischtennis.de reported. The Dane shared the page with Swedish professional Truls Möregardh, appearing as marketing recruits for a struggling table tennis center run by Donald Duck. The collaboration placed Lind alongside prominent figures such as tennis player Caroline Wozniacki and handball player Mathias Gidsel, who previously appeared as competitors for an award.

Playing Style and National Team Success

National coach Linus Mernsten, recognized in 2025 as Denmark’s cross-sport coach of the year, characterized Lind’s unconventional style as artistic, telling the specialized magazine tischtennis that What Anders plays is sometimes really art. Lind reciprocated the praise, stating, Without him I wouldn’t be playing anymore or I would at most be a top 200 player. The two have worked together since Lind was 17. Lind utilizes a signature aggressive backhand sidespin stroke known as the strawberry, alongside abrupt tempo changes that disrupt opponents’ tactical preparations.

On his path to his current standing, Lind defeated former Europe Top 16 winner Marcos Freitas from Portugal as well as England’s top players Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall. He currently plays as the top player for Borussia Dortmund in the Tischtennis-Bundesliga (TTBL) following stints in the French league.

Overcoming a Severe Car Crash

The Danish player’s career nearly ended on March 23, 2021, when his car collided at 100 kilometers per hour with a vehicle stopped sideways on a highway near Copenhagen. The crash fractured two lumbar vertebrae and left him facing an 80 to 90 percent probability that he would never walk again, according to medical projections cited by Lind. Following a five-hour operation, three months in a support corset, and intensive rehabilitation, Lind returned to competition just six months later at the 2021 European Team Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He led the Danish team into the semi-finals.

Upcoming WTT Champions Frankfurt Appearance

Lind and Truls Möregardh will compete at the WTT Champions Frankfurt tournament taking place from November 3 to 8 at the Süwag Energie ARENA. Lind reached the semi-finals at the same tournament last year.

Ticket information for all six days of the Frankfurt event is available through Reservix.
