Andrew Huston Releases California Rain Ahead of SWAY Album
Indie singer-songwriter and drummer Andrew Huston released his new single “California Rain” on Friday, October 16, 2026, marking the first preview of his upcoming full-length record SWAY.
Huston moved from Philadelphia to Long Beach, California, two years ago after playing in various bands and releasing five solo records since 2019 alongside work with his band The Waders. His team describes “California Rain” as a jangly rocker featuring cleaner, more streamlined production than his earlier music. The song centers on a change of scenery and the unexpected adjustments that come with new surroundings.

The ten-song album SWAY follows on Friday, November 13, 2026. Huston recorded the project primarily alongside producer Stephen Cunningham at Dream Machine Studio in Long Beach. Cunningham engineered and mixed the record while contributing guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, and piano, while Huston wrote every track and performed drums, bass, guitar, and lead vocals.
Guest contributors include Paige Scherer, who sings on “The Fishing Pier,” and Emma Stotts, who performs on “Minnesota Snow,” while Ian D.G. Bennett mastered it. Bennett mastered the album at Mission Control Mastering. Lyrically, the record explores themes of isolation against the backdrop of pleasant weather, touching on coastal drives, breakups, and weather patterns across its ten tracks.
Release Show Scheduled at Vine in Long Beach
Huston will celebrate the release of SWAY with a live performance on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at Vine, a wine bar and performance space located at 2142 E. 4th Street on Long Beach’s Retro Row. The Cynthia Nelson Band and iji will open the evening.
