Rain and Angèle Launch Instinct on the Grote Markt

Angèle opened her album release night on the Grote Markt in Antwerp on a rainy Friday evening, performing tracks from her newly released record, Instinct. Showers interrupted the outdoor event throughout the evening, forcing crew members to repeatedly dismantle and rebuild the party tent protecting the DJ booth. Despite free tickets selling out rapidly, the weather impacted attendance, keeping the crowd thinner than anticipated and allowing a few people from the waiting list to secure last-minute entry.

Bibi Seck kicked off the evening’s music before Angèle took the stage to greet the audience and play her new material. The performance continued as planned. When she performed the track “On verra,” the crowd quieted down to listen, contrasting sharply with her older hit “Balance ton quoi,” which the entire Grote Markt sang along with.

Musical Guests and Collaborative Performances

Angèle shared the stage with several musical guests during the release event. The brothers Dewaele of Soulwax took over the performance space after her opening set, joining Angèle on stage for an energetic rendition of their collaborative track “Trop.” French electro DJ SebastiAn also appeared, having worked alongside Angèle and Caroline Polachek on the song “Love Triangle.”

Amelie Lens drew loud cheers from the audience when she joined Angèle to perform “Run,” a track originally released in August on the debut album Aura of the Belgian techno-dj. The concert concluded with a collective karaoke session on the Grote Markt, where big screens displayed the lyrics to “Bruxelles je t’aime” and “Démons,” her collaboration with Brussels rapper Damso. Fans and members of Angèle’s entourage filled the stage to sing the final songs together.
