Slovak actress Anna Šišková recovered her stolen BMW X1 within hours after a public plea on social media directed followers to the citizen-led vehicle tracking initiative HAKA. The vehicle, valued at approximately 1.5 million Czech crowns, was discovered parked outside a railway station in Kúty on Thursday.
Vehicle Recovery in Kúty
Anna Šišková reported the theft of her BMW X1 on Thursday afternoon via social media, sharing a photograph of the vehicle and asking the public for information. Followers directed her toward the Slovak citizen initiative HAKA, an acronym for “Hľadá sa auto krádeže automobilov,” which assists in locating unreturned and stolen vehicles. According to an announcement on the official HAKA Facebook page, a watchful member of the group located the vehicle parked outside the railway station in Kúty.
Police Intervention and Arrest
Local police responded to the scene at the Kúty railway station parking lot. According to reporting by news.refresher.sk, officers discovered a sleeping man inside the recovered automobile. When questioned by law enforcement, the man claimed he had purchased the vehicle for 300 euros.
Public Response and Resolution
Fellow actors, including Petra Polnišová, Eva Holubová, and Lenka Krobotová, offered messages of support on Instagram following the theft, while other followers expressed skepticism about the chances of recovery. By Friday morning, Šišková posted footage of police vehicles to her social media accounts, announcing to her followers that the car had been found.
