Competing in Ichinomiya, Putri failed to capitalize on the physical condition of her opponent. Unnati Hooda entered the match having just completed a grueling rubber-game battle against Wong Ling Ching. Despite that demanding prior schedule, it was the Indian shuttler who controlled the pace on the court.
Putri admitted her disappointment after the match, noting that she struggled to adapt to her opponent’s strategy. “Compared to the previous meeting, she accelerated the pace of the game, and I was confused to handle her rallies,” Putri said.
Missed Opportunities in the Opening Game
The defeat marks the second career meeting between the two players. Putri previously won their initial encounter at the Hylo Open 2025. However, she could not replicate that success on September 26, 2026.
The turning point occurred in the first game. After falling behind early, Putri successfully fought back to tie the score, only to squander the momentum with unforced errors.
“In the first game, after trailing and then catching up and equalizing the score, I actually made a lot of my own mistakes. And that continued into the second game. That made my position continuously pressed,” Putri explained. “I wanted to reach the semifinals and win a medal, it’s a pity it couldn’t be achieved.”

While her individual campaign ended in disappointment, Putri’s overall trip to the Asian Games 2026 yielded a podium finish. She competed in both the individual and team events. Alongside her compatriots in the women’s team competition, Putri successfully captured a bronze medal for Indonesia prior to her singles exit.
