Under the coverage plan, battery service for capacities falling below 80 percent costs $0, cover layer repairs cost $19, back glass and external screen repairs cost $29, internal screen repairs and other accidental damage claims cost $99, and theft or loss protection requires a $149 fee.
Specifications and Design Features of the iPhone Duo
The iPhone Duo represents Apple’s first entry into the folding smartphone market, a move driven by the success of competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and Flip series. The device features a 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display and a 7.6-inch inner folding screen equipped with a nano-texture layer to reduce light reflection. Powered by iOS 27 and an A20 Pro processor utilizing vapor chamber cooling, the device includes dual eSIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a Titanium Grade 5 hinge.
The camera system includes a dual 48MP rear setup with Fusion main and Ultra Wide Fusion sensors, a 12MP Center Stage front camera, and a FaceTime camera located under the inner display. Software additions feature Smart Take, Duo Preview, Kid Cue, and Duo FaceTime. Market analysts project foldable phones to gain momentum by 2027, aided by Apple’s market entry and Samsung’s ongoing refinements to devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Global Pre-Order Dates and Regional Market Responses
Apple scheduled pre-orders for the iPhone Duo to begin on October 16, with retail availability and shipments starting on October 23. The base device starts at $2,000.
In international markets, the launch has drawn distinct logistical and pricing responses. Authorized retailers in Vietnam required customers to place a deposit of 30 million VND for pre-orders starting at 7:00 PM on October 16, with retail prices ranging from 65 million VND for the 256GB model up to 104 million VND for the 2TB version. Retail representatives stated that the high deposit and limited initial supply aim to curb speculation and hoarding by traders.
Meanwhile, Carl Pei criticized the $2,000 price point on social media, arguing that the device lacks essential features such as Face ID and a telephoto camera. The device’s 5.2 mm thickness when unfolded limits internal space, prompting Apple to prioritize form factor over certain hardware components for this first-generation release.
