Apple TV Unveils Trailer for “Nocturne” Starring Liev Schreiber and Zazie Beetz

Liev Schreiber faces Stephen Graham in the high-stakes chess match of Apple TV’s upcoming crime drama “Nocturne,” which has secured an official global premiere date of October 30, 2026. The platform dropped both the official trailer and key art for the ten-episode series, setting up a tense clash between a weary detective and a cunning serial killer, as macerkopf.de reported.

Jonah Lynn Hunts a Diabolical Killer in Western Pennsylvania

Adapted from Lars Kepler’s international bestselling crime novel “The Sandman,” the sprawling narrative follows Jonah Lynn. Schreiber portrays the ex-soldier turned homicide detective who flees the harsh streets of Philadelphia for a quiet small town in Western Pennsylvania in search of a peaceful life.

Peace proves elusive. Jurek Walter, a diabolically cunning serial killer portrayed by Stephen Graham, immediately threatens Lynn’s new home and family.

To protect everything he holds dear, Jonah initiates a desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim. That quest forces his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer played by Zazie Beetz, into a dangerous confrontation with the killer.

Translating a Swedish Literary Phenomenon to the Screen

The ten-episode drama draws from the broader literary phenomenon of the Joona Linna book series by Swedish author duo Lars Kepler, the pen name for Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril.

Apple’s source material boasts substantial global reach. Ten published crime novels have sold a combined 20 million copies across 40 languages in over 170 territories worldwide.

Production duties for the series are handled by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios.

BAFTA Award winner Rowan Joffé created the television adaptation. He writes, executive produces, and serves as co-showrunner alongside John Hlavin, who shares writing, executive-producing, and co-showrunning duties.

Directing the first two episodes as well as executive producing is Emmy, Peabody, and DGA Award winner Tim Van Patten.

The extensive executive producer lineup includes Liev Schreiber alongside his starring role, Zazie Beetz through her Sleepy Poppy production company, and author Lars Kepler. Additional executive producers include Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, Niclas Salomonsson, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson for A+E Studios, and Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli, and Jack Whigham for Range Studios. Julie Herrin rounds out the team as co-executive producer.

Alongside Schreiber, Beetz, and Graham, the supporting cast features Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr.
