Aprilia Racing continues to demonstrate its competitive edge in MotoGP, securing its fourth Grand Prix victory in a row across all seasons (Portimao 2025, Valencia 2025, Buriram 2026 and Goiania 2026). This recent success at Goiania saw Marco Bezzecchi take first place, simultaneously propelling him to the lead in the rider’s world championship standings.
Aprilia’s Strong Performance
The Italian manufacturer’s success extends beyond individual rider achievements, as Aprilia currently leads both the manufacturer and team rankings. This strong form is further highlighted by the impressive performance of Jorge Martin, who secured third place in the sprint and second in the Grand Prix, moving into second position in the overall championship standings.
Rivola Highlights Bezzecchi’s Improvement
Despite a challenging start to the weekend, with Bezzecchi qualifying in 20th place on Friday, the team demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt and improve. Aprilia race director Massimo Rivola noted the team’s effective analysis of data, stating, “The team worked calmly and methodically, analyzing Jorge’s data – that’s exactly how you have to do it. Don’t panic in the box, trust in your own work, no matter where you are.”
Jorge Martin’s Resurgence
Martin’s performance also drew praise from Rivola, who emphasized the former world champion’s natural speed and emotional return to form. “It was a very emotional weekend, two podium finishes in an impressive manner,” Rivola commented. He added, “Jorge is coming back. What he showed in Thailand was impressive. What he showed this weekend was impressive. And I’m sure he’ll be impressive in the next races too.”
Cautious Optimism for the Season Ahead
Despite the positive results, Rivola remains grounded, acknowledging that it is still early in the season. He emphasized the need for continued hard work and humility, stating, “We’re not used to being at the front. The best way is to stay calm, stay humble and preserve working the way we can.”
Concerns Regarding Race Start Procedures
Rivola expressed concern over the chaotic circumstances surrounding the race start, where pieces of asphalt came loose, leading to a shortened race distance. He stated, “It is not acceptable to only understand what is happening immediately before the start,” and indicated that a more thorough discussion of the issue is needed within the appropriate forums.
Aprilia’s performance in Brazil represents a significant achievement, combining sporting success with areas for organizational improvement as the MotoGP season progresses.
