Bunclody Students Qualify for National Science Exhibition

Two Bunclody Community College students are preparing to showcase their research projects at the RDS in Dublin after being selected from thousands of nationwide entries. Ari Ghosh and Sam Bolger earned their places at the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, which runs from January 6th to 9th.

The selection marks a notable achievement for the school. According to the institution, securing two distinct project spots is a major milestone for such a modest-sized facility and brings immense pride to the entire Bunclody area.

EchoTrace Project Examines Artificial Intelligence Ultrasound Data

Ari Ghosh’s project, titled “EchoTrace,” investigates medical ultrasound datasets used to train and test artificial intelligence systems. The research looks at whether hidden patient overlap exists within these datasets. The research looks at whether this could make AI technology appear more accurate than it actually is.

The investigation addresses questions regarding data integrity in modern medical research and automated diagnostics.

Fight the Firehose Project Tackles Vaccine Misinformation

Sam Bolger’s project, “Fight the Firehose,” examines how best to tackle misinformation surrounding childhood vaccinations. His study explores the phenomenon where hearing an assertion multiple times increases its credibility among individuals, despite the statement being incorrect.
