I love this mysterious world of tarot. It makes me think of the tarot Garden by Niki de Saint Phalle – a project she worked on for nearly 20 years, building walkable sculptures based on the 22 tarot trump cards in southern Tuscany. it also brings me back to the tarot tables in milan’s Brera district I passed by more then ten years ago.
Johanna Dumet’s monumental installation echoes both: an almost walkable aluminum house of cards, and a large-scale series of 22 oil paintings depicting tarot cards with captivating colors. Johanna Dumet has built her own captivating world – a personal story that began with watching her grandmother read tarot cards as a child, and grew to include such details like French medals and collected pieces of jewelry.
