The FSB (counterintelligence service) has foiled an assassination attempt against the secretary of Russia’s Security Council, sergei Shoigu, Russian state media reported.
According to the FSB, the attack was planned to be carried out during a private visit by Shoigu to a cemetery in Moscow. An explosion was to be set off near the grave of his relatives. The services claimed to have established a “Ukrainian trail” and thwarted preparations for the attack, but no evidence was provided for these allegations.
