WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University women’s ice hockey team will face Post University in a decisive game three of the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Quarterfinal series on Sunday, March 1, at 7:00 pm. The series is tied 1-1 after Post University secured a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center.
How the Game Unfolded
Post University opened the scoring at the 9:10 mark of the first period with a goal from Kai Hyatt. They extended their lead before the nine-minute mark of the second period when Caryss Kehl scored from the point. Assumption responded quickly, with Justina Valentini scoring a wrist shot goal just under a minute later, assisted by a turnover forced by Mary McKiernan.
Despite a strong push from Assumption, including pulling their goalie for the final 1:33 of regulation, they were unable to find the equalizer, resulting in a 2-1 loss.
