Asus may have a high-end gaming handheld hit on its hands. The recently released ROG Xbox Ally X has proven a success, and Asus plans to build on its momentum by increasing production to better meet demand from customers.During a recent Asus investor’s meeting, and spotted by Windows Central, the brand confirmed it believes the Ally range of products will generate the equivalent of $96 million to $160 million in sales this quarter. However,Asus admits it has not been able to keep the top-end gaming handheld in stock.

An Asus spokesperson saeid, “Since its launch, we see the market response for it has been extremely positive, especially, there has been an appetite for the premium higher-end models, exceeding our expectations.”

“These high-ended variants are currently in short supply. We are working closely with key component suppliers to ramp up production and fill the demand gap that exists. Our goal with the ROG Ally is for it to remain a core pillar within the ASUS gaming portfolio.”

At the time of publication, the brand’s top-end model with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is out of stock across the US. It has been tough to buy the console since launch, despite its high price of $999.99.

Asus has yet to confirm how many units it has sold so far, and it’s unlikely the brand will share that figure. If the brand didn’t make many units in its initial run, it may be easier for the ROG Xbox Ally X to “exceed expectations.” Nevertheless, this is an admission from Asus that it didn’t get the stock levels right and it aims to improve that for the future.

You can still buy the lower spec version of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally, which costs $599.99. It comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
