Atlético-MG hosts Coritiba at Arena MRV in Brasileirao Matchday 31
Atlético-MG enters Saturday’s fixture against Coritiba aiming to solidify a position inside the top six of the Campeonato Brasileiro. UmDois Esportes reported that the match takes place on October 17, 2026, at 18:30 Brasília time at the Arena MRV in Belo Horizonte. The home side enters the 31st round sitting in seventh place with 47 points, carrying momentum from a continental victory earlier in the week.
ESPN Brasil noted that the hosts arrive just three days after defeating Montevideo City Torque 3-0 in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana semifinals. Reinier, Bernard, and Thiago Borbas scored the goals in that continental fixture, giving Eduardo Domínguez’s squad a comfortable advantage ahead of the return leg in Montevideo. In the domestic league, the team earned a 2-1 comeback victory over Santos in the previous round, featuring goals from Vitor Hugo and Thiago Borbas.
Coritiba travels to Belo Horizonte mired in an inconsistent run of form that leaves the club in 11th place with 39 points. Fernando Seabra’s side is winless in its last five outings, a stretch that includes lopsided away losses such as a 5-0 defeat to Vasco and a 4-0 setback against Fluminense, alongside a 1-1 draw with Botafogo. Despite those struggles, ESPN Brasil pointed out that Coritiba holds a favorable recent record in away matches against Atlético-MG, having avoided defeat in Belo Horizonte since December 2020 and claiming a 2-1 victory in their sole prior visit to the Arena MRV in 2023.
Squad Rotations and Tactical Outlook for Saturday
Manager Eduardo Domínguez plans to manage squad fatigue by resting key players after their midweek win. Everson, Ruan Tressoldi, Gustavo Scarpa, Mateo Cassierra, and Fred remain sidelined during their recoveries.
Gabriel Delfim projects to start in goal for the hosts, matching up against Coritiba goalkeeper Pedro Morisco. Lance! outlined the expected tactical lineups for both clubs as the visitors attempt to tighten a defensive structure that has leaked nine goals across their last two away fixtures.
