Masashi Kishimoto Announces Naruto Shadow Rising Manga at New York Comic Con 2026
Masashi Kishimoto is officially returning with a brand-new official sequel manga titled Naruto: Shadow Rising. The announcement took place on October 10, 2026, at the conclusion of the “NARUTO: What’s Next?” presentation during New York Comic Con.
The new manga is set directly after the events of the Fourth Great Ninja War, before Naruto becomes the Hokage and prior to the events depicted in Naruto: The Last movie. Initial promotional material features early sketches of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, and Sakura Haruno, alongside a teaser referencing the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke. The narrative picks up as Kakashi takes office as the Sixth Hokage, with Sasuke embarking on his worldwide redemption journey and Naruto awaiting a prosthetic arm made from Hashirama Senju’s cells.
Expanding the Franchise With Crossover Anime and Card Games
Alongside the manga announcement, the New York Comic Con panel revealed a Naruto x Ninku collab anime. Further details regarding the crossover’s episode count and release date remain unannounced.

Bandai’s upcoming NARUTO CARD GAME will officially launch worldwide in June 2027, backed by a new teaser trailer. The card game rollout will include three starter decks dedicated to Naruto (ST01), Sasuke (ST02), and Gaara (ST03), alongside the inaugural booster set titled “Enter: NARUTO UZUMAKI!,” which features new illustrations based on the original Naruto anime and Naruto Shippuden.
Next Steps for the Shadow Rising Release at Jump Festa 2027
While the official publication date for Naruto: Shadow Rising has not yet been disclosed, fans have been directed to watch for further announcements during the Jump Festa Super Stage 2027. Additional details concerning the project will be unveiled during that event.
