Donald Rukare, president of Commonwealth Sport, emphasized the importance of maintaining the Games’ relevance. “The Commonwealth Games remain a vital platform for 74 nations, offering athletes a unique opportunity to compete and connect,” he stated. “While the absence of star names like Australian sprinter Gout Gout and Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh is notable, the event’s significance lies in its role as a unifying force for athletes from across the Commonwealth.”
