Toddler Burned in Carrickmore Firework Incident
A toddler under the age of two suffered a forearm burn requiring hospital treatment on October 31, 2026, after a firework thrown by a group of youths outside a petrol station in Carrickmore, County Tyrone, partially exploded, bounced into the road, and detonated a second time beside her and her parents, RTE reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Main Street. According to the Irish Mirror, local policing Inspector McDonagh stated that four young men in their mid-teens and wearing dark-coloured tracksuits were involved in the disturbance. Police described the act as reckless and stated that it is only by sheer luck the outcome was not more severe given the proximity to a petrol station.

During these operations, fireworks were intentionally directed at firefighters during six separate incidents in locations including Kilkeel, Drumquin, and Enniskillen.

The Irish Post noted that no injuries or damage were sustained by fire crews during these attacks, allowing emergency services to maintain their operational response throughout the evening.
