Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its artificial intelligence and serverless offerings, headlined by the preview launch of the Amazon Connect Agentic CX designer. This new no-code tool allows business teams to build and deploy AI-powered customer service experiences, integrating agentic and deterministic AI into governed workflows to reduce development timelines from months to weeks.

The new Agentic CX designer provides a visual canvas for designing voice and digital self-service experiences. According to AWS official announcements, the platform enables non-technical teams to create customer flows that combine agentic AI—which can reason and take action—with deterministic, rule-based logic.

Complementing this is the preview of Live Sync, a technology that updates a customer’s web or mobile interface in real time during a conversation. This allows users to complete forms or navigate to specific product pages directly within the interaction flow, removing the need for manual navigation.

New Serverless and Infrastructure Updates

AWS has introduced several compute and management updates aimed at improving developer efficiency and security:

  • AWS Lambda MicroVMs: Built on Firecracker, these new serverless primitives provide VM-level isolation for user or AI-generated code. They feature near-instant launch and resume capabilities, with the ability to suspend execution for up to 8 hours, addressing multi-tenant application requirements.
  • Amazon EC2 AMI Watermarks: This feature allows users to embed custom identifiers into private Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). These watermarks persist through copies and account shares, enabling organizations to enforce compliance by restricting launches to approved images using Declarative Policies.
  • AWS Outposts Lifecycle Management: Users can now manage configurations, quoting, and ordering directly through the AWS console, CLI, or API. The update includes a real-time quoting tool that identifies regional constraints and cost estimates before orders are submitted.

AI-Assisted Operations and Security

AWS is integrating AI agents to simplify complex administrative tasks across its service ecosystem:

AI-Assisted Operations and Security
  • Amazon MSK AI Agent Skills: Coding assistants such as Claude Code and Cursor now include expert guidance for Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK). This covers troubleshooting, cluster sizing, and migrating external Kafka clusters to MSK Express.
  • OpenSearch Service Migrations: The Migration Assistant now features an agent-guided experience for moving deployments from Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, or self-managed OpenSearch to OpenSearch Serverless or Managed Clusters. This includes support for live traffic capture and replay for Solr.
  • Amazon GuardDuty Investigations: Currently in preview, this service uses knowledge graphs and threat intelligence to analyze security findings. It provides a disposition assessment with confidence scoring and MITRE ATT&CK classification, helping security teams distinguish true threats from benign activity in minutes.

Community and Governance Changes

Beyond product launches, AWS has participated in shifts regarding open-source governance and certification:

  • MySQL Community Governance: Following an announcement by Oracle, AWS has joined a new Steering Committee for MySQL. This move establishes a formal community governance model, providing non-Oracle organizations a defined role in the project’s future.
  • AWS Certification Maintenance: AWS has introduced an option to maintain eligible certifications for an additional year by completing hands-on labs and curated training on AWS Skill Builder, replacing the requirement to retake full exams. This is currently available in open beta for select Associate and Professional certifications.
